I had a dream when I was a child, of the fairy tale life I would lead when I grew up. You know the one, have a successful career, meet my prince, get married around age 30, live in a beautiful house and adopt one or 2 children who were at least 5 (didn't want to be bothered with pregnancy and potty training you understand), possible have a nanny and definitely a housekeeper, and we'd all live happily ever after. Well, after God finished chuckling, He presented me with a fairy tale life alright, just slightly skewed from the original version. I never did have that successful career, instead I met my prince when I was 21, it did take me a couple of years to recognize him for the gem he was, but we were married by 26, and our number one son arrived just a couple weeks prior to birthday number 30. Number one daughter arrived 3 years later and our family was complete. Instead of a career, I'm a stay at home Mom, and I homeschool our children. We do have a great house when you can clear away the toys and see the floor. No nanny, and as you've probably guessed, no housekeeper either. Actually, you would probably call me homemaking challenged. Cooking, cleaning, ironing, not really my thing. I do a mean load of laundry though, and I can wash dishes with the best of them.
So that's my fairy tale. I call it my fairy tale redux, because I can finally appreciate it. It has become my ideal life. (Although a housekeeper would still be nice)
